Lancaster History and Craft Beer Walk!
Overview
We’ll kick it off at the hub of Lancaster, our colonial square, and begin to explore the concentration of historical sites spanning three centuries – all within just a couple of blocks! The nation’s oldest continuously operating farmers market and theater, the birthplace of the Conestoga Wagon, homes of some of Lancaster’s most famous citizens, colonial churches, and much more will be brought to life through stories, characters, arts and architecture. You will learn the out-sized roll our small city played in the birth and growth of America as you stroll through charming streets and alleys and begin to understand the building blocks that take us to the present day. Sound great? Well there is still much more. After our old city history walk, we will whet our whistle at some of Lancaster’s finest craft beer establishments – and the history isn’t over. You will learn how much of our colorful past is tied to beer. From 19th century German influence to amazing tales of prohibition ingenuity, the beer flowing through the taps comes from the present day but reaches back across the last two centuries – and it’s delicious!

Michael was a fantastic tour guide. This was my husband's and my first time visiting Lancaster, so it was really nice to have a personal tour guide show us around the city and give us a lot of historical facts. He took us to some really cool locations to try out the local beers and gave us a lot of great recommendations for dinner. He is very knowledgeable and easy to talk with.

Even though I live not too far from Lancaster, I was glad I took this tour. Mike is a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. I especially liked learning more about the heroic, 19th-century power couple of Lydia Hamilton Smith and Thaddeus Stevens. All that and some excellent local craft brew recommendations, too! I'd highly recommend this tour as a primer to learning more about Lancaster past and present.

Growing up in Lancaster I had no idea of its brewing history. Mike was a tremendous tour guide. He had a wealth of information, interesting facts and stories of Lancaster’s past. It was great to experience and see and taste firsthand how brewing is still a solid part of the town! I highly recommend making this a part of your Lancaster experience!

Great experience hanging out with Mike at the beer tour. So much history and cool buildings. We had a few beers and talked about our favorite brews. Highly recommended. The whole crew is very knowledgeable. Even living in Lancaster I was blown away by their stories and insight.

Mike was the best. He promptly found my wife and I at the meeting area. We then proceeded in a historical tour of the great city of Lancaster. Mike was extremely knowledgeable explaining the architecture and history of all the buildings and stories of Lancaster. We also visited three breweries and drank delicious beers. I highly recommend this tour with Mike. A personal tour of the up and coming city of Lancaster and a wonderful time with Mike, who will be your friend at the end of the tour.
