Last week my sister and I were fortunate to enjoy dinner at the home of Verna and her three sons. The meal was wonderful and it was such a pleasure to share food and conversation with this friendly and engaging family. Phil, our loKal tour guide, did a great job of directing the conversation so that we could learn more about the Amish way of life. His friendships and connections with members of the community were invaluable in making this a very relaxed and enjoyable evening. We definitely will repeat this experience and will seek out other loKal experiences when we return to Lancaster. My sister and I agreed that this was a highlight of our trip.

Mike is the best. Entertaining and interesting stories to tell about the city. Its origins, people, buildings. Nice stroll. Later on took us in the country. Visited a Amish farm, where they made cheese, butter, ice cream. Farm was neat, nice. Got to choose a cone, yummy.Next stop another with lots of animals. And a very nice drive back. He was not in a hurry. Tour lasted 3 hours. Was fabulous.

Wonderful experience! Phil served as an awesome tour guide, gladly answering our many questions along the way! Lunch with our Amish host was a real treat! The only thing that surpassed the delicious food was the lovely conversation with our host, tour guide and fellow guest! A trip to Amish country has been been on my mother's "bucket list" for years - this experience made it even more memorable! Best of luck in your future endeavors, Phil!

Having been to many of the sites, restaurants, theaters and shops over the years this tour and sit down lunch with a lovely Amish family was a fantastic addition to our visit to the Lancaster area. Our guide, Mike, was very knowledgeable having grown up in Strasburg, PA himself and most accommodating. The highlight for us was visiting the Amish family in their home. Sarah was most hospitable, her food was so good comprised of homegrown vegetables, fruits, breads, entrees, dessert! Due to heavy rain we stayed inside for a while and Sarah entertained us by playing her harmonic then singing (she has a beautiful voice) with two of her lovely children and offering us a sing a long. Truly a warm welcome from someone we are so glad to have met. I highly recommend this tour and thank Phil and Mike for coming up with the idea. And a big thank you to Sarah and her children for the gracious welcome she gave us.

It as a wonderful experience. While driving through Amish country we were prepared for the visit. No pictures of the people was allowed. The farm was the farm used in the movie witness. Martha provided a fine meal of chicken, beef and home grown vegetables. Both she and her husband interacted with the guests. It was a fun time.

We went to Sarah’s house and she made us a delicious meal. Her children were adorable and showed us around the entire property. Awesome time and highly recommend it.

Sadie invited us into her home and shared with us a wonderfully tasty meal. While she didn't consider it a chore to have made a plentiful meal for us, believe me that even as someone who enjoys cooking, this lunch felt like Thanksgiving! As much as we appreciated and savored the meal, the visit we had with Sadie was a memory we will always cherish. We made a new friend who was very happy to answer any questions and to share information about Amish life. Sadie is a real gem and the experience was a highlight to our visit to Lancaster.

Wow! To go into an Amish family's home and sit down to share a meal with them was such a unique opportunity that I will always treasure. I signed up for this purely to get a glimpse of their authentic life, but I got so much more. During the ride there and back, our driver, Mike, shared lots of interesting facts about the area and the Amish. Sarah, our host (along with her three younger children), sat and ate with us, and was so gracious about answering our questions. And the food was delicious!! And plentiful...you really need to arrive very hungry! After our meal, she played the harmonica and sang for us. Then we got to go into her cellar to see her many shelves of canned goods. We also toured her guest house which can be rented as a B&B. This was an experience I didn't think was possible with such a closed, private community. I'm thankful for the host families that work with this company. It was clear that the tour guides are trusted friends with these families...our time together just exuded good feelings all around. Worth every penny, and I highly recommend this. In fact, I'll be taking this tour again when I return next summer.

This was an unbelievable experience that I'll surely never forget. Phil showed us around the countryside, providing us with the history of the lands as well as insight into the Amish culture. He answered any questions we had in thorough detail. The dinner with Aaron and Mary's family was more than delicious. The whole family was extremely opening and polite. I felt like I was part of the family. Their lifestyle was fascinating! I highly recommend this tour. I will definitely be doing it again the next time I visit Lancaster.

What a fabulous excursion!! My fiance, myself and my 9 year old daughter live within 30 minutes of Lancaster and have toured the various Amish experiences. This was the first time I felt like I had an authentic visit with the Amish. We sat down to a delicious home cooked meal in an Amish home and had dinner with Mary and her wonderful family. It gave me so much insight into the Amish and answered so many questions I had. After dinner, my 9 year old daughter loved playing soccer with the family children. We truly enjoyed ourselves and the family we met . Thanks so much Phil, you were an awesome guide. We will certainly be trying more of LoKal's wonderful excursions!!!

Our experience was wonderful and we are so glad we did it. Phil is from here and grew up Amish so he can give you a better perspective then some of the tour groups run by non Amish people. The meal with the Amish family was great, John & Sara are very inviting and kind. My favorite part of course is that Phil took me to a farm so that I could pet/hold a baby goat.

You WILL NOT be disappointed! Phil provided not only a very informative tour, but also many suggestions of things to see and do for the rest of our trip. The meal with our gracious Amish hosts, Sarah and John, was superb, and the children in the family were adorable. You will not leave hungry!! We enjoyed singing together after the meal and were even surprised with a song performed on the harmonica by Sarah. We were able to tour their farm and see their animals as well. What an incredible experience!

Our experience with Phil was over top. Because of his background with the Amish, he was able to make connections that most people would find impossible. What better way to experience the Amish than around their kitchen table, surround by their children. The food that Sarah, the Amish mother cooked was incredible. I would recommend Phil to anyone wanting an amazing experience. This was definitely one of our highlights of our trip to Philadelphia.

We spent about 1.5 hour with the Amish family. It was interesting to learn about their life style and life experiences through meals and conversations. The introduction at the beginning could be more prepared and organized.

Phil’s stand-in Mike was fantastic! The tour was informative and we got to stop at an Amish creamery. The Amish family who welcomed us for lunch was AMAZING. I love and respect the Amish and never would have been able to do this on my own. It was easily the best $50 I’ve spent in a long time. Thanks Mike!

Phil took us on a tour of the Amish countryside. He was very knowledgeable and made sure to make us feel at home everywhere we went. Phil was an excellent photographer and explained the customs and beliefs of the Amish. Verna was a wonderful hostess and made delicious and filling meal. This cultural exchange was well worth the price and we will definitely revisit
