I’m a huge Harrison Ford fan. He is my favorite actor, and Witness is my all-time favorite movie. I was lucky enough to meet Harrison Ford in 1984 when they were filming the movie at the Lancaster County Courthouse. I was a 9-year-old little girl at the time. I visited the Witness farm the summer of 1985. I did a Witness bus tour back in 2005 that commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the movie’s release. When LoKal’s Witness Experience popped up, I knew I had to do it.

When my friend and I arrived for the start of the Witness Experience, we were greeted by friendly LoKal folks at the Zoetropolis in Lancaster, PA. As we made our way inside Zoetropolis there was memorabilia to view from the Witness movie.

The staff working the snack/drink bar at Zoetropolis were easy going. Drinks and popcorn were on the house. We grabbed some sodas and popcorn, got our seats and watched some cast interviews and got some behind the scenes information before watching the Witness movie starring Harrison Ford on the big screen.

After the movie we made our way to the Amish farm where the movie was filmed. We made our way down the long driveway, and we were able to freely visit and take pictures at many locations on the farm where scenes from the movie were shot. LoKal had pictures displayed throughout the farm showing actual scene captures from the movie.

We made our way around the back of the barn for a fabulous surprise. LoKal had inside the barn the light blue 1971 VW Squareback. Harrison Ford’s character crashes that car into the bird house in the movie. As we entered the barn someone had Sam Cooke’s What a Wonderful World playing. That made the moment epic! Another epic moment was being able to sit inside the car!

We couldn’t have asked for better weather. We had a beautiful day to enjoy the outside, sit-down, Amish meal. We sat at really long tables just like the characters in the movie did during the barn-raising scene. The food was delicious. That was the best corn I’ve ever had! We were given a sheet with ten Witness movie trivia questions to answer. During the meal the answers to the Witness movie trivia questions were answered.

Phil Lapp and his LoKal crew went above and beyond for this unique Witness Experience. It was everything I was hoping for and more. This was way better than the 2005 tour I went on. Great job! If you ever do this tour again, I’ll be there! Thanks for the enjoyable Saturday getaway with my friend!

Had a great day starting out at the movie theater which was very comfortable. I enjoyed the showing of the mini show with the insights of the cast about experiences in the movie followed by the entire movie. after the movie, we drove through beautiful Lancaster to the actual farm from the set of the movie. We were able to take pictures of the surroundings and the actual VW that was in the movie. The owners of the property were very nice. After touring the property we were entertained by a 10 question quiz about the movie while eating a great lunch outside. It was great day which was very interesting and informative to see the actual setting of a great movie that was shot locally.

Thank you for a most amazing experience! It was even better than expected with the surprise of getting to take pictures of and sit in the actual car used in the movie. The host family was very generous to allow us to visit their home and host this once in a lifetime opportunity. Great job organizing and executing this event loKal!

What an excellent experience! Being from Lancaster County, seeing the location where such an iconic film was made in my backyard was awesome. Seeing Witness on the big screen at Zoetropolis first and then getting the opportunity to “be on set” of the movie location was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The current owners of the property were excellent hosts, and the experience leaders had lots of insider facts about the movie to share. The icing on the cake was being able to sit in the blue car that was in the movie! For anyone who is a fan of the movie, or just someone who remembers Witness being filmed in their hometown, this an experience you won’t want to miss!
